24 and 27 April 2020 – The Global Arbitration Review (GAR) reported on the Firm’s victory for a Finnish investor, Mr Mohamed Bahgat, in his investment arbitration against Egypt in respect of the expropriation of the Aswan Iron & Steel Project.  Fietta LLP secured an award in excess of $115 million (including costs) for Mr Bahgat in the case.  GAR subsequently reported on the Dutch bailiff’s seizure of the former residence of the Egyptian ambassador in The Hague as a first step in Mr Bahgat’s enforcement of the award.  Stephen Fietta QC, who was  lead counsel in the arbitration and is coordinating Mr Bahgat’s enforcement campaign, is quoted in both articles, which can be viewed here and here
