  • Legal Directory Rankings – Fietta LLP has again been ranked in the top tier for public international law by both the Chambers UK and Legal 500 directories.  The team was praised for its “exceptional knowledge of international law”, and  “strong work and client commitment”.

    Stephen Fietta KC was again recognised as a leading practitioner, being identified as a Star Individual by Chambers and Partners and included in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame.  Laura Rees-Evans and Oonagh Sands were recognised as Legal 500 Next Generation Partners, and Laura was also ranked in Chambers and Partners. Senior Associate Miglena Angelova was recognised by The Legal 500 as a Leading Associate in Public International Law.

  • ITLOS Workshop for African Legal Advisers – On 11 September 2025, Stephen Fietta KC addressed an ITLOS Workshop for African Legal Advisers in Hamburg, Germany, on the delimitation of maritime boundaries. Read press release here

  • Investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) and European Union law – On 20 August 2025, Stephen Fietta KC gave a lecture to the Kyiv Institute for European Integration about investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) and European Union law.

  • 2025 Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Litigators guide

    2025 Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Litigators guide: Stephen Fietta and Laura Rees-Evans have once again been recognised as leading global litigators by Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Global Litigators guide. They are two of only 17 practitioners listed in the “public international law” category.   • Elgar Encyclopedia of Space Policy and Governance – Oonagh Sands authored a chapter titled “The Global Commons” in the Elgar Encyclopedia of Space Policy and Governance. The publication delves into the key concepts, governing bodies, and challenges involved in regulating the space sector; it is available here.

  • IBRU: Workshop on Maritime Boundary Delimitation 2025 – On 15 September 2025, Oonagh Sands and Dr Gershon Hasin will act as tutors for the IBRU Professional Training Workshop on Maritime Boundary Delimitation, taking place at Durham University.   • International Law of the Sea Summer Academy 2025 – On 29 July 2025, Oonagh Sands will deliver a lecture titled “Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in the Law of the Sea” at the International Law of the Sea Summer Academy at Kadir Has University Faculty of Law, Istanbul.   • 28th Session of the Rhodes Academy on Oceans Law and Policy – on 30 June and 1 July 2025, Stephen Fietta KC gave presentations on “maritime boundary delimitation” and “activities in disputed areas” to attending State and other representatives from around the world at the annual Rhodes Academy in Greece.

  • EFILA Launch of International Arbitration and EU law – On 11 June 2025, Prof Freya Baetens spoke on paths towards reconciliation of international arbitration and EU law on the occasion of the book launch of International Arbitration and EU law (EE2024) co-edited by Nikos Lavranos and Stefano Castagna, combining international commercial arbitration, investor-state arbitration and cross-cutting issues such as environmental protection and taxation, under the auspices of the European Federation Investment Law and Arbitration (EFILA).   • Cornell Conference on Nonprofits as Claimants in ISDS Disputes – On 21 April 2025, Prof Freya Baetens spoke at a conference organised by Cornell University, critically assessing the current (lack of) ability of non-profit organisations to bring ISDS claims, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating such a possibility into future investment treaties.

  • GAR 100 2025: 18th Edition – Global Arbitration Review has recognised Fietta LLP again in the annual GAR 100 Guide. A source has described the firm as a “standout firm” with “market-leading expertise”. Partner Laura Rees-Evans has also attained honourable recognition.
