- Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) Conference
Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) Conference – on 30 September 2026, Stephen Fietta KC delivered a keynote address opening the inaugural Graduate Institute Conference on the Law of the Sea in Geneva, Switzerland. His address explained the widespread legal and practical implications of ongoing global events and conflicts under UNCLOS and the law of the sea.
ITLOS Workshop for Legal Advisers – on 22 September 2026, Stephen Fietta KC addressed a workshop for national legal advisers at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg on the topic “The Continental Shelf Beyond 200 Nautical Miles”.

International Law of the Sea Summer Academy 2026 – On 23 July 2026, Oonagh Sands delivered a lecture titled “Dispute Resolution” at the International Law of the Sea Summer Academy at Kadir Has University Faculty of Law, Istanbul. The full programme and list of speakers are available here.
On 25 July 2026, Jadranka Jakovcic will participate as a speaker at the Fifth Durham Energy Disputes Conference at Durham Law School, as part of the panel on “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ESG”. The conference brings together academics, practitioners and policymakers to discuss contemporary issues in energy disputes. 29th Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy – on 6 and 7 July 2026, Stephen Fietta KC lectured at the Academy on issues of maritime boundary delimitation and joint development of disputed maritime areas.
Oxford Law Society – Space Law Panel – On 13 May 2026, Dr Gershon Hasin participated in a panel discussion on the law governing outer space activities and emerging challenges. The panel explored the international, domestic, and contractual legal frameworks governing space-related activities, as well as the areas where those frameworks are most in need of development. Gershon discussed his perspective on space governance based on policy-oriented jurisprudence. The event was organised by the Oxford Law Society for Trinity.
British Institute of International & Comparative Law (BIICL) conference – On 30 April 2026, Oonagh Sands participated in a roundtable discussion on “Countering ISDS Claims: Old Tensions and New Defences”. The speakers explored essential security clauses, the ringfencing of sanctions measures, and the strategic use of counterclaims. The event was organised by the Investment Treaty Forum at BIICL in collaboration with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Leuphana University. For event details, click here.
Annual Conference of the Cambridge International Law Journal – on 23 April 2026, Oonagh Sands acted as moderator on a panel titled “International Environmental Law: Reimagining Environmental Governance in an Era of Planetary Crisis”. - Global Arbitration Review (GAR) most important decisions shortlist
Global Arbitration Review (GAR) most important decisions shortlist – GAR has published its shortlist for the most important decisions of the year (2025), as part of the forthcoming GAR Awards. Included in the list is the Court’s award in the Indus Waters Western Rivers Arbitration (Pakistan v. India), in which Fietta is acting for Pakistan. GAR’s reporting of the award is available here.
