Fietta LLP sponsors a PhD studentship research project at the University of Edinburgh.
The collaboration between Fietta LLP and the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh will enable current PhD Student, Ms. Christine Gaebel, to carry out academic research relating to marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction. Ms. Gaebel’s PhD thesis will have a specific focus on “Evidence-Based Management of Marine Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction in a Changing Ocean”.
This PhD research aims to respond to existing knowledge gaps, by researching how evidence-based management of biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction can be put into operation in rapidly changing waters. Ms. Gaebel will identify and assess how scientific best-practice could be incorporated into the contemplated United Nations agreement on “conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction”.
Ms. Gaebel is due to complete her PhD thesis in 2025.
